Irene Senei

Irene Senei is a distinguished public administrator and advocate for sustainable community development with over a decade of leadership experience in Kenya’s public sector. Known for her strategic oversight and commitment to environmental stewardship, Irene brings a wealth of expertise in land management, natural resource policy, and large-scale project delivery to the Impact Kenya board.

Throughout her career, Irene has held pivotal roles within the Samburu County Government, serving as the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for several critical dockets, including Environment, Water, and Natural Resources, as well as Lands. In these roles, she was instrumental in developing policy frameworks that balanced infrastructure growth with the preservation of indigenous lands and natural ecosystems.

Currently, Irene serves as a senior official within the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU). Her work involves the high-level coordination of national priority projects, ensuring that government initiatives—ranging from education infrastructure to major highway developments—are executed efficiently and provide tangible benefits to local communities.

Irene is a staunch advocate for inclusive governance. She is particularly recognized for her work in establishing Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM) that empower local group ranches and community representatives to have a seat at the table during national development projects. Her unique blend of grassroots engagement and high-level policy execution makes her an invaluable asset to Impact Kenya’s mission of driving sustainable and equitable growth across the region.
