Our advocacy work is centered around ensuring equitable representation in shaping legal and political frameworks, a cornerstone of our mission. We believe that community-driven legislative development is key to aligning governance structures with Indigenous peoples’ expectations and goals. We also actively lobby for and support the implementation of pro-Indigenous and pastoralist policies at both county and national levels.

Indigenous Representation: A Continued Struggle

To counteract historical marginalization and secure a future where Indigenous peoples inform and benefit from policies that impact their land and lives, we must ensure their active participation and representation at all levels of governance.

Our Solution

IMPACT in Action

Twala Cultural Manyatta—Helping Women Navigate the Community Land Act and Secure Land Title

Twala Cultural Manyatta, an umbrella body of six constituent subgroups, is a collective of women who steward 40 acres of community land, fostering progress and livelihood.

IMPACT assisted Twala in understanding and navigating the complexity of the Community Land Act.
IMPACT’s founder translated legal documents into Maa for the Maasai community.
IMPACT hired a Maasai advocate to provide legal support and ensure the community’s interests were represented throughout the land registration process.
By simplifying the process and ensuring the community was aware of their rights, IMPACT addressed the challenges that isolated, nomadic, and seminomadic communities face.
