IMPACT Kenya has received appreciation from the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, Climate Change and Energy of the Samburu County Government following its support for the World Wetlands Day commemoration held in Archer’s Post on 2 January 2025.

The event brought together community members and sand harvesters from the Waso Ngiro River area to discuss environmental conservation and the long-term impacts of unsustainable sand harvesting. Participants shared the opportunities and challenges associated with the sector while exploring approaches to improve sustainability and regulation.

In the appreciation message, the Department acknowledged IMPACT Kenya’s contribution to the success of the event and highlighted the importance of continued collaboration in promoting environmental stewardship and protecting natural resources. The Department also expressed its intention to continue working with local communities and stakeholders to improve environmental governance and sustainability.

This recognition underscores the organization’s commitment to environmental conservation, community awareness, and collaborative approaches that support sustainable development across northern Kenya.
